Digital Video Recorder (DVR) versus Analog Systems

Digital Video is faster and easier to manage than analog systems. It also has the capability of being integrated with CCTV components and offers instant access to recorded or live video. Storage is easier than with analog because the volume of video that can be stored on a single disc far outweighs that which can be stored on a tape. Add to that the quality of images digital video produces and the fact that the quality doesn't diminish over time, and you have a system that will give you reliable video data when you need it.

CCTV is a closed system by its very nature. This means that the video is transmitted only to a limited number of monitors over a limited amount of distance. Digital video, however, is networked. It can be accessed from any location at any time with a simple telephone line of Internet connection. In addition, multiple users can view the video data by instituting password access.
